1/32 P-51D/K/F-51D Panel Masks for Tamiya
Uncamouflaged Mustangs revealed a range of tints and tones from panel to panel. This download lets you cut masks that precisely fit the fuselage panels so you can vary your natural metal finish any way you like.
For the wings, we’ve created a set of masks to putty over all those rivets, just like they did on the real thing. The masks cover panels and features that remained on a factory-smoothed wing. Place the masks and slather away at the exposed rivets and panels with your favorite filler.
While P-51 wings appear mostly uniform— whether puttied and painted or not— we’ve also included masks for gun and landing gear servicing doors, as they often varied a little. The ailerons and flaps remained unpainted so we’ve included masks to cover those, just in case you like to attach them before painting.
And if you really want to do your Mustang right, we’ve included a design to mask the stringers in the main wheel well. On many P-51Ds, the wing spar and stringers were painted for corrosion protection while the aluminum skin remained untreated . Our masks make quick and easy work of a pretty tricky task: just paint the Tamiya wheel well part aluminum, lay down the masks, and spray the exposed stringers Yellow Zinc Chromate. Viola! Or as Mustang pilots might say, “Tally Ho!”
Download includes two 12×8 inch (304.8 × 203.2 mm) SVG files, DXF copies for Silhouette, and a PDF placement guide.
