1/48 P-47 Panel Masks for the Miniart Thunderbolts
If you are building the Miniart Thunderbolt you can’t ignore all the panels along the fuselage underside. The P-47 had steel covering the ducting for the supercharger, ‘cause it got wicked hot. That, and all the nearby aluminum, got burnt and discolored. We won’t even mention all the exhaust stains and dirt down there.
This download lets you cut masks for all the panels along the belly of the Miniart P-47Ds. Apply and remove them however you like to create your best representation. Show off a little bit.
Otherwise, the Thunderbolt was all aluminum. Pictures suggest little variation in tone, save weather effects. But there was room on our design page, so we added some masks for the upper wing gun doors. One of our favorite techniques is to vary the service panels from the rest of the airframe. Here’s the logic: as the ground crews were walking around and messing up the wing to load and service the guns, the panels were removed. When they were reinstalled they were a little cleaner and shinier than the wing around them. Have fun with those!
Download includes one 7 X 9.5 inch (177.8 x 241.3 mm) .svg files, a .dxf copiy for Silhouette, and a PDF placement guide.
