This set is an addendum to our F6F-5 Essential Mask set. It adds the Geometric markings and side numbers for VF-17 when flying from the USS Randolph in 1945. The download includes mask designs for the geometric tail code (no need for wing masks; just paint the ailerons white) as well as aircraft numbers for the tail, fuselage, cowl and gear doors. We’ve provided number 32 to replace the Airfix kit decals and, of course, McWhorter’s 9.
With the Essential set providing insignia and a bunch of other useful stuff you’ll have almost everything you need to paint up your big Cat. Plan to use decals for the stencils, bureau numbers, and victory markings; we’re finding kill flags just too small and intricate to effectively cut on home machines. Even if they did, weeding out all those little red stripes would drive you mad.
