Several sources claim Canadian Spitfire ace Johnnie Johnson flew post D-Day beer runs, delivering kegs to the Normandy beachhead. Corroboration is scant, but it’s a cool story. The Spitfire, reportedly built from different airframes, does wear his initials, so he likely flew it somewhere. Let’s say with beer.
