Spitfires by Tim Gidcumb and Mark Rezac

We love to see models made using our Hawaiian Air Depot designs. If you have one to share, email us pics and we’ll show you off here on our Make Your Own blog.

That’s what Tim Gidcumb and Mark Rezac did. Tim took advantage of our Custom Design Service to grab a comprehensive set of masks for his 1/48 Eduard Spitfire Vb, flown by Czech Pilot Karel Mrazek:

Tim writes, “it was my first time cutting and using masks for a build even though I have almost all your sets. Everything worked out great and the finished product is amazing, so much better than decals.”

Not bad for a first time! Tim’s hard work paid off, taking a second place award at the Houston show.

Mark Rezac is another of our favorite modelers, and among the first to paint up Johnnie Johnson’s Beer Run Spitfire using our design for the 1/32 Tamiya IX:

Our designs include position and alignment features to precisely fit specific kits but Mark’s a rebel; he used them on the PCM Mk. IX. Marks is a fan of taking those older, unloved kits and showing us all what great models they are. He reports they fit the PCM kit without too much stress.

JE J didn’t place in Vegas (we think he was robbed), but Mark’s Tamiya Spitfire did. He used our Camouflage Mask Set on this one:

We hope you love a great Spitfire model as much as we do. Thanks to Tim and Mark for sharing their fantastic projects.
